We’re not only writers; we’re readers and below are some of the highlights of the past few weeks that we wish to share: What it’s like to be addicted to sex “Why am I like this?” is the most common question I encounter, as a sex researcher working with hypersexual men. Problems with pornography and cheating have had severely detrimental effects on their lives and they are desperate for a solution. After ruling out bipolar disorder or borderline personality disorder as the underlying condition (as high-frequency sexual behaviour is a common symptom of these disorders), this is what I have found. (The Independent) Does A Man Have To Plan Everything While Dating? A lady I follow on Twitter whose ideas I usually am in agreement with got me scratching my head. The basis of her series of tweets was that if a man approaches her… [Read more]

Today’s bytes involve the topics of privilege, discrimination and whether or not black folks were happy before civil rights (lol). There is also a unique perspective offered up about marriage by a female writer that we had to include and it will blow your mind to smithereens. This week we’ve been on a fitness tangent so there are some good links to training advice by step queen Cathe Friedrich. Lastly a coach goes off on his players and Lady Dragon Lisa Ann does some stretches.

We’re not only writers; we’re readers and below are some of the highlights of the past few weeks that we wish to share: Sex Question Friday: Why Is Being Single So Stigmatized? As a result of these negative stereotypes, people seem to feel that singlism (the scientific term for prejudice against singles) is justified. In fact, people think it is much more legitimate to discriminate against singles than it is to discriminate against people based upon other personal characteristics (e.g., race, gender, sexual orientation). Consistent with this idea, in one study, participants were asked to evaluate a set of property rental applications and to select they applicant they would prefer to have as a tenant.  (LEHMILLER) Black man’s burden: myth of the deadbeat The question put forth to you today is whether or not this unsubstantiated rumor is true? The answer is a resounding “No!” Not only… [Read more]

We’re not only writers; we’re readers and below are some of the highlights of the past few weeks that we wish to share: Am I a feminist – or a sexist? Whether you identify yourself as a feminist or not, a man’s language is always open to attack. It’s not about your intent, it’s about wheedling out your latent misogyny and there are crack squads of radical vigilantes ready to remind you of it. It’s a pity we wasted “unkindness” as the collective noun for ravens. It was begging to be applied to internet commenters. Online, it can feel like you need one PhD in Woman’s Studies, another in semiotics and a barge pole if you want to say practically anything.  (TELEGRAPH) On Behalf Of True Christians: We’re Not Here To Judge, And Trust – We Don’t Want To Anyone can throw out a scripture… [Read more]

We’re not only writers; we’re readers and below are some of the highlights of the past few weeks that we wish to share: Pimps Up – It took me less than three days to finish this fascinating true story of the former pimp, Robert Beck. His way of story telling captured me and made my fascination that much more intense. (I don’t plan on becoming a pimp) This was the first book of many written by Iceberg Slim, of which according to the original publishing house have sold millions upon millions of copies in over eight different languages.  (BRENMARIE) Eagle point of view – Ever wondered how it feels to fly on the back of an eagle the way that Gandalf, Aragorn and Frodo Baggins did? Well check this out: How Many Women Are Going Bare “Down There?” – A recent online survey of 2,451 women revealed… [Read more]

We’re not only writers; we’re readers and below are some of the highlights of the past few weeks that we wish to share: Pinching Pennies Is Good for Your Dating Life – Being tightfisted with money is not usually thought of as a desirable characteristic in a date. Sites like eHarmony and Match.com publish posts listing ways to detect a cheapskate date — who ostensibly should not be worthy of a second get-together.And yet in the economically uncertain postrecession era, many surveys and studies have shown that being responsible with money — perhaps even to the point that you might be considered cheap — bodes well for your love life. (TIMES) Women, Drop The Pink Dumbbells and Lift Heavy!  – The simple fact is, women should be lifting heavy weights. Yet, fitness magazines show models standing on one leg on top of a BOSU ball… [Read more]

We’re not only writers, we’re readers and below are some of the highlights of the past few weeks that we wish to share: Men to blame for childless women? In Asia there’s a new tendency for men to go their own way – with thousands shunning marriage and kids for a life of independence and control, which no family court can destroy. The same thing is happening across America and Canada. In fact, author Helen Smith PHD recently published a book entitled Men on Strike, where she notes that: ‘America has become anti-male. Men are sensing the backlash and are consciously and unconsciously going on strike. They are dropping out of college, leaving the workforce and avoiding marriage and fatherhood at alarming rates.’ (DAILYMAIL) A woman’s face may drive a relationship’s length: study In a study with several hundred heterosexual male volunteers, a team of… [Read more]
