From blaming Video Games for gun violence to blaming rappers for rape, it never ceases to amaze me how the fad of generalizing becomes so popular when it never fixes the problem at hand. Do you know what I find funny about the current assault on Hip Hop with labels such as “rape culture” (since Misogyny is no longer the popular word of the day)? I find it funny that while the implications are serious, the people making the most noise do not buy, have never bought, and will never buy the albums of the rappers that they are going in on. A few days ago at the University of Toronto, a group of Men’s Rights Activists organized a meeting to discuss Misandry, what it means, and possible solutions for what any man not going through life with tunnel vision will admit is a dangerous wave of demonizing boys in our society. The meeting was civil, orderly and led by both educated men and women, but the things they wished to discuss were not possible due to a large group of masked, angry and aggressive women and men (sigh)–who self-identify as feminists–screaming into megaphones and eventually pulling a fire alarm. I have but one question… why are you there? Recently in my life I have been lucky with being in the presence of many young people who are the product of single-parent homes. Having come from that myself I recall the day I swore that I would not be one of these men who neglect the child(ren) of the woman who happens to be my mate. You would think that men would accept that a woman with child is a package for love but this is not the case at all. But why do people behave this way when they know that the one rule for waiting staff at any restaurant is that you leave a tip in addition to your meal? Expecting a solid piece giving new energy to the notion of marriage, I instead got an offensive piece of Beta man garbage rife with insults at any man who didn’t fit into the married club.
