Maybe I’m odd, but I can honestly say I have never looked at another woman and wanted to copy or steal her look. Sure, I see women from time to time and give them a mental thumbs-up for on-point fashion sense, but I’ve never wanted to take a picture so I can transform myself into a carbon copy of any of those women.  When I express this to my female relatives and friends, they tend to look at me with slightly raised eyebrows. They think I’m not telling the truth. I hear things like “Come on, Dani…you mean to tell me you’ve never ripped off someone’s look?” And because of this cliché response that I get from them, I’ve come to realize that it is a common and prevalent thing for women to imitate each other’s appearance/style. Despite it being a common occurrence, I still… [Read more]

Male and female relations in a general sense are not unlike race relations… It’s very important for a single male to keep female friends and attractive women who are genuinely good people are an absolute necessity. Why? Well, as a single man going through life it can become very easy to see women as an alien race with feel-good cookies that are only available if you can get past their defenses. Much of this thought process comes from the many toxic women that we come across in life and if a man has no balance—like a good female friend—it can be very easy to go down a dark path. Consider a day when you—the standard male with no female friends—goes to work and sits in a meeting where you are being liberally harassed sexually by female coworkers. In the back of your mind you check their privilege,… [Read more]

For the longest time we have seen Hollywood showcase “the strong silent type” as the epitome of manliness. Turns out that they were not too far off the mark. Recent studies have shown that quiet men are regarded as more manly and attractive to the opposite sex and both men and women prefer mates whose voices sound familiar in some way (source). I want to stay a bit on the deep voice thing though since it pretty much debunks the whole ideology that women are no longer liking macho men. “Researchers at McMaster University have found that women were more attracted to men with masculine voices, at least for short-term relationships.” – source The downside to this of course is that the same women who are attracted to the James Earl Jones and Keith David types assume that eventually they would cheat. Women in these… [Read more]

bossy girls, arguing, girls fighting, bullies

Recently, I’ve been seeing a lot of things on social media relating to “bossy” girls and how they should be encouraged and congratulated. I find this meme incredibly aggravating because the reality is that the girls in question are not behaving in a way that is at all desirable.  Bossy little girls are not being strong leaders, they are being overbearing dictators, hence the negative connotation associated with the word bossy. The people posting these things are implying that the word has a negative connotation simply because it is generally descriptive of girls and women.  I call bullshit.  It’s negative because being bossy is in no way positive.  Strong, professional, accomplished women are NOT bossy. It is interesting to note that these “bossy” girls are being portrayed as both “strong” and the “victim” simultaneously. That they are being both chastised and congratulated for behaving in… [Read more]

Life has been hard to the self-proclaimed bitch but she is tired of being kicked down and is ready to be the one doing the kicking. It is a freeing thought this new attitude of “not putting up with your shit” that we take on when we’ve finally decided that we are over being the world’s doormat. There is the need to scream it out at the top of the highest mountain “I am sorry if I am a bitch but…” to let the future users and abusers know that you will not take their fuckery and manipulation lying down. You want to issue the warning that despite your kind eyes and sweet voice you have fangs behind that maw and they would do well to stay on your good side or the bitch will come out and give them a good bite! Women that have… [Read more]

Contrary to popular belief, it is very easy for a man to tell on the first date if he will be able to get a second. Most of the signs are there, but men do not see them right away. Several times I have walked down memory lane with my current boyfriend, discussing our first date and how he had no idea that I was looking to be more than friends. It can be difficult for a man to figure it out solely from the body language or the way she looks at him, but the signals are definitely there. If you pick up on them, there will be no guessing as to whether or not she will want to see you again. 1. She keeps the conversation going A bored and uninterested woman will not listen intently to your stories and she will definitely… [Read more]

Why is it that some women deem it okay to stare at men when their guy is next to them looking the other way? We are continuously reminded that as men we like to stare at other women’s breasts and asses so why is it that women staring is so understated? Consider this scenario: Some athletic guys stroll by a couple of women and their boyfriend barbecuing and the women seemed to be genuinely interested in them. The way that the men could tell that the women were interested was due to the focused, hard stare and lip-biting that occurred as soon as they walked past their station. The guy that was with the women was no bodybuilder but was in a romantic relationship with one of the women. Disrespect can be one of the most subjective off occurrences but to actively stare at someone… [Read more]

One of the most common stereotypes that women get plagued with is the notion that complaining is happiness. Another one is that a woman is never truly happy with a man, even if he is the drama-free type that gives her the world. These stereotypes come from a root of confusion, negativity, and oversimplification when it comes to communication, or should I say lack thereof between the sexes. The very popular backlash against approaching women in public has become deafening on the web. At the same time we have another loud cry for men to take it old school and approach women to court them face-to-face. If you aren’t already shaking your head at the paradox, I would urge you to read the first two sentences of the paragraph again. Men are being asked to stay away from women in public, but at the same… [Read more]
