As men we love to pretend that we love natural beauties, but what we really love is a natural look. You’ve all heard it before – the girl next door – the beauty who doesn’t know that she’s a hottie but is confident enough to say “thank you” when you compliment her for it. The natural look for men does not translate to a woman rolling out of bed looking perfect–as many would have you believe–but it involves a woman wearing natural, earthy colors in makeup and having very little contrast outside of eyeliner.
We get a lot of confused looks from women when we look at a model that appears to be wearing very little makeup and remark on how much of a natural beauty she is. Many of us men are absolutely clueless about the process a woman goes through to make herself beautiful, so we draw a hard line between lady rouge (with her bright red lipstick and smoky eyes) and miss high cheekbones who can pull off a stunning look with just a bit of accented colors and light makeup.
When you hear a man say that he likes a “natural beauty” know that he is talking about light, flesh-toned makeup versus bright lipstick and more.
The irony to this whole thing is that many men have a hard time recognizing a truly lovely face if the eyebrows aren’t sculpted, eyelashes aren’t curled and her hair isn’t styled. You can blame this on the same media imagery which makes you (the woman) convinced that you have to be a size 2, with a pair of firm, perky c-cups and legs the length of the leaning tower of Pisa.
Some of the women who we consider to have a “natural look” in celebrity world would be Sanaa Lathan, Ciara, Julie Benz, Rosario Dawson, Kerry Washington, Zooey Deschanel… you see where I’m going with this? All stunning women in their own right–don’t get me wrong–but most of the time they are seen with makeup, it’s just that we find it absolutely appealing.
So the next time you hear a man talking about how much he loves a natural look, take your feminine knowledge database on makeup out of the equation and recognize that what he truly likes is subtlety and the illusion of a “natural beauty”. We all know that true natural beauties are rare and have been worshiped by men since the dawn of time; so if a guy honestly means that the woman he seeks is to be 100% natural, he’s either fooling himself or fooling you into thinking that he’s serious.See some words or phrases that you don't understand?
