We’re not only writers, we’re readers and below are some of the highlights of the past few weeks that we wish to share:
Men to blame for childless women? – In Asia there’s a new tendency for men to go their own way – with thousands shunning marriage and kids for a life of independence and control, which no family court can destroy. The same thing is happening across America and Canada. In fact, author Helen Smith PHD recently published a book entitled Men on Strike, where she notes that: ‘America has become anti-male. Men are sensing the backlash and are consciously and unconsciously going on strike. They are dropping out of college, leaving the workforce and avoiding marriage and fatherhood at alarming rates.’ (DAILYMAIL)
Married or Single? Pick a Box – A lot of women spend time learning and preparing to be a wife only to waste their time on a man who has no intentions of marrying her and in some cases already has a wife… I know it is a hard pill to swallow that there are men who in fact already have a wife but play house with another woman. I am not in the business of babysitting the feelings of adults so I don’t sugar much especially the truth, but there are too many women in relationships with men who are single. (BMARIE)
The Non-Essential Menswear List – Truth is, you could just buy a black suit from Topman and spruce it up with a fancy shirt, tie and shoes and most will be none the wiser. I know you want to look like you’re attending the Oscars but, come on, your ten year school reunion isn’t really the same, is it? (FASHION)
Lifestyles of the Rich & Shameless – Many women – many of us – are very guilty of becoming financially dependent on our men – and understandably so. Financial dependence has been heavily romanticized throughout the course of American history. In a way, Prince Charming still pays the bulk of the bills while we “stay home with the kids” or attend to his needs. Being financially taken care of by a handsome, wealthy guy with bomb sex appeal is the whole concept of 50 Shades of Grey. (WILDTOPAZ)
In Dating Game, Narcissists Get the Girl – On average, the men approached about 23 women. To rule out the possibility that the more narcissistic men were more selective in who they approached, the researchers analyzed each woman who was approached on her physical attractiveness and manner of dress. The narcissists weren’t more selective.
The narcissistic guys did get the girl more often. The higher the level of narcissism, the more likely they were to get more contacts. (HEALTH)See some words or phrases that you don't understand? Check out The Dragon's Lexicon.
