So I’m checking out this abortion of a reality show called “Mob Wives” when the baby rat of Sammy Gravano announces that she’s on the show to promote her new book about “the life”. Just a while ago I get word that Lamar Odom’s ex is writing a tell-all book about he and his current wife cheating on her… what the hell is going on here? Who is it that reads all of these books being written by ex housewives, ex jump-offs, and ex transvestite hookers? Talk about hive-mind, if it’s one positive thing that can be said about Karrine “Superhead” Steffans, it’s that she wrote her tell-all memoirs back when it wasn’t the “cool thing” to do. Now every time I turn around some broke rapper, video vixen, friend or sex slave is become an overnight author.

As a book reader who finds it hard to recommend anything valuable to people (because people don’t read), I find it hard to believe that people are becoming readers overnight just to get some gossip on a basketball player. Is that what’s going on? Is snitching so sexy that you forego all of your “reading makes me sleepy” and “can you just give me the cliff notes” rhetoric to suffer through 200+ pages? This amazes me!

I can refer Dale Carnegie’s “How to Win Friends and Influence People” to 100 people with the guarantee that the gems within its pages will improve their business relations and I can put money on it that only about 15-20 would even open it. Let’s take it a step farther, I can give these same 100 the audio book version to listen while they drive to work, workout at the gym, or toast themselves at the beach and I know that even a 3rd won’t do it. People HATE reading (you fine visitors of my Hall are an exception of course… let’s kill the irony right now) so how is it that books are still selling so well if our nation of lazy, illiterate people aren’t reading to begin with? I’m serious; I need an answer to this.

How is it that Lamar Odom’s ex believes that writing filth about their past will guarantee her a fat paycheck? Who is supporting the ex-snitches and their writing? I can understand how Karrine Steffans got mega money for her memoirs but it seems hard to believe that with one of these “tell all” books coming out every day, that there is any real money in writing them. Do you readers buy these books? Are they even written well, or is it the way I assume it will be?

I agree with you…But the fact is these people will get big fat checks off of their tell alls because there are people out there obsessed with other people’s drama and misfortunes. Always have been always will be! Love the articles by the way!
