There seems to be this misconception that the quieter, more introverted people in society are somehow the nicest. While they may seem polite at face value or super-intelligent and innocent, there are many who are the deepest sexists, racists and homophobes. Now many of you have not known a good amount of nerds in your lifetime, when I say “a good amount” I am speaking of 10+ different people with different personalities. Your experience with nerds may be limited to a trip periodically to GameStop, your college campus and probably the internet. Still this is actually a good gauge being that nerds do vary much; you have your Sci-Fi nerds, your sports geeks, your video game nerds, anime otakus and of course your all-around nerd. I cannot understand the lust for clubbing and the club life – that is, well I cannot understand the wont for this as a 30-something or worse yet a 40-something. I clubbed A LOT in my twenties, and I sometimes wonder if the possibility of being burnt out can explain my attitude but I can recall one day at 25 years old, I was in a club with friends, walking around drinking, hollering at random uninterested chicks and having an enlightenment of sorts. So what is the future of fighting games? Street Fighter 4 has jump started the genre by bringing back veterans of the old series and attracting new blood to the competition. With the next installment being released soon, the upsurge can only continue to build until like it’s predecessors it dies down until the 5th sequel. But it worries me that only a few games are viable as true winners in the fighting game genre. Offhand I think Street Fighter, Tekken and Soul Calibur when people ask “which fighting games should I be playing?” Sure you hobbyist gamers will jump on the new Guilty Gear clone or SNK niche title but is it worth it when you log into the network and find only 5 French guys qeued up to challenge you? They get fired! Now as a big watcher of Tru-TV (Probably my favorite channel next to History) I will admit that my “f— the police” attitude has sobered a bit due to the various shows. I mean seeing the other side of things when people are just blatant a-holes can give you empathy for the boys in blue, but I can’t co-sign on a gang beating. And lets be honest here, when you have 5 cops beating on one guy… regardless of what came before it, its some gangland sh-t. It sucks for all involved, the cops no doubt have families and within these bad economic times, losing a job is not fun.
