Is Satoshi Kanazawa a Racist, Victim or a Martyr?

Once upon a time there was a doctor by the name of Satoshi Kanazawa who thought that black women were not only ugly but that every man thought the same way as he did on this “fact”. Kanazawa probably had lunches with his peers, scoped out a few of the hawtes trolling the office and high-fived them all on how perfect the Barbies were. When Essence from the Research dept. walked by however Kanazawa would look to Dale, Elliot and Carlton and they all would shake their heads in unison. Essence wasn’t fine. So what does Kanazawa in all his brilliance decide to do? He sets out to prove “scientifically” why Essence (now the avatar for all black women worldwide) was not as fine as Barbie, Grace, Maria and Natalia. When Kanazawa penned his now famous “Why Black Women Are Less Attractive” article, Psychology Today published it and the black blogosphere declared holy war. Dale… [Read more]

The Difference Between Thick, Thin and Fat Women

Editor’s Note: This is a controversial topic that I myself (Greg Dragon) have always wanted to tackle, especially with the mainstreaming of the “thick woman” who was once regarded as fat by the majority. Abagond has bravely taken on the task and did a stellar job of it so I thought it a good idea to share with you all. Note: the point of this post is to make clear the difference between thick, thin and fat women. Those who think I am standing in judgement of women are reading way too much into it… [SNIP!] …Thick women have hourglass or pear-shaped figures. It is not their waist that is thick but their thighs and behinds. As a rule of thumb, if a woman’s waist is two-thirds the size of her hips or less – if her waist to hip (WHR) is 0.67 or less – she is most likely thick. In North America it seems that most white… [Read more]

Are Black Women Too Much Drama To Date?

The answer of course is no, its a stupid question but one that holds merit. The amount of attention being placed on black women whether negative or positive have skewed many mens’ thinking into the realm of “high maintenance”. The blogs written by men and women about the black woman’s place in the United States mention many things but it isn’t just the blogs that are the problem, it’s their commentary. You comb the articles of MadameNoire.com, TheFreshXpress.com, Blackvoices.com and any other space dedicated to blackness and you will find that every other entry is about black women and their struggle for beauty and dealing with us “worthless” black men. The blogs bring about a bias from the male brain where you can get to a point of “damn this is too much”. When an explanation of an issue becomes 100 explanations of the same issue it becomes a very loud question. This is a… [Read more]

The 7 Layers of Division in Black America

There’s a great wish in the African American community for a wonderful utopia known as UNITY. The word brings about images of 70′s era movies where everyone picks their blow-out afros, slaps high-fives and echo “right on” in unison. This reality was lived out by our parents but now the word has become pure fantasy. A fellow AA writer and myself discussed this unity thing and devised that there are 7 layers of division that keeps black unity a myth. This list may not be black exclusive but it plagues us and keeps us separated in a major way. The 7 Layers of Division in Black America: Layer 1 – Bourgee vs. Ghetto Middle/Upper Class vs. Lower Class for those confused by the derogatory terms. These two classes of people don’t necessarily hate one another but cannot coexist due to different outlooks and prejudice towards one another. So how would you go about unifying them?… [Read more]

A Made Man’s Smut and a Poor Man’s Queen

The title was taken from this video, where rapper Joe Budden is discussing the habits of the attractive women that he has dealt with and known throughout his career. He argues for the average, hard-working guys with assets that fail at getting these girls because they (the women) will only deal with men of fame. The famous men treat these girls like crap, swap em off to their buddies, laugh at them, make rhymes about running through them and they still come back for more. The women that he refers to are so star-struck and superficial that a man who has the same amount of money and no title is worthless in comparison to a high spending athlete who doesn’t even spend a dime on her. I have this conversation on the daily with 2 of my partners in crime concerning women, specifically attractive black women and the bi-polar standards that they convey to the… [Read more]

For Single Women in Search of The Great Golden Buffalo

One of my friends (a young lady that we’ll call Veronica for the sake of this article) is on the market for a guy. Like many of us who choose life over romance throughout our years, Veronica finds herself on the north side of 30 and in want of a guy who will accept her. Given my history with Veronica I knew what it was that she enjoyed. She is active, she does martial arts, dances in parades and is a big time artist. These qualities make her atypical of the standard black girl mold and it was what attracted me to her in the first place (forever and a day ago when we were a thing). Now I am in one spot and happy and she is beginning to feel the need for love after many years of flying solo. The few guys that she had encountered throughout life had been for lack of… [Read more]

Stop With The Angry Black Woman on Commercials Please!

I am about tired of these commercials, not because of the underlying clueless racism in them, but the fact that they are tired and very late to the party. Last year (2010) it was open season on black women as blogs and the media took to task the “solving” of the black woman’s single problem. Every single day on “black blogs” there was post after post bemoaning the plight of these women in their single-hood, while an underlying and sometimes well hidden insult was  being ushered against the black male. This was black people attacking black people about a problem that isn’t exclusively black – but let them tell it. From the war that ensued between the successful  but single women and the “relationship experts” who chose to capitalize on it their rose the image of the bitter black bitch. Who is The Bitter Black Bitch? Well turn on your television and you won’t have… [Read more]

5 Stupid Questions Women ask on First Dates and How To Answer Them

You’re on a date with a beautiful woman, you’re both having a good time and suddenly the wine gets to her head and she begins to ask really dumb questions. The questions are so off-putting that her beauty fades and you begin to wonder how easily you can ditch her in order to find something else to do for the rest of the night. Have you ever been there? Well below are 5 questions out of the many that women tend to ask and whether to answer them or not, and if so, what to answer them with. 1. How Come You Aren’t Married or Have Any Kids? The real meaning: (see “Are You Gay”) It’s a loaded and unanswerable question and women love to use it on men who have money, look handsome, and seem fun. The logic is “oh my God, why are you available when so many thirsty women want you!” but… [Read more]
