The 100 Man Laws: 26-30 (Balls and Words)

Rule #26 (White Knights): Men are protectors by nature, being the construct of the God of War, we feel it necessary to protect Venus’s tribe from themselves and other males. That being said, unless you know the woman OR the abuse goes beyond verbal towards physical, you should probably mind your own business when it comes to other people’s business. When a man tries to be Captain-Save-A-Ho conveniently when another male has gone savage, he is using opportunity to garner favor from the female. There is a difference between protecting someone from harm and scamming on some ass via slighting another guy. If the intent ends up being the latter, then you are white knighting for pussy and therefore breaking one of the most fundamental Man Laws. Mind your own business and go get your own lady. Rule #27 (Pride): I will use a verse from Nas to explain the aspect of pride in the… [Read more]

The 100 Man Laws: 16-20 (Warrior Code)

Rule #16 (Don’t Pitch the Bitch): Keep your money and your women completely separated. Unless she started the business with you, is into it as much as you or operates in the same facets as you, the less she knows the better. Remember Blu Cantrell’s song “Hit em up style”? Well if that man had locked his wallet and kept things tight, there would be no credit cards for that crazy bird to run-up at the mall. The same can be said about family, your money as a man should be your best kept secret. It doesn’t matter HOW you earn, just that you do earn. Pay for dinner, buy her pretty things but never ask me about my business Kate. Rule #17 (No Hook-Ups): Unless you are doing your friend a favor by introducing him to Cathy the town bicycle, you are not to be playing match-maker with a friend. If you are truly… [Read more]

Get Sharp Lesson 03: The Shoes

I’m going to start this one off with a simple reminder. The Getting Sharp series is about refining the edges to look like a fresh, sharp dude. It’s personal advice that I’ve compiled for the past few years. What makes me an authority on it? Nothing really. I’m not a fashion designer. I’m just a simple, self-conscious guy who has tried to improve my own style by looking at what other people are doing right and wrong. So let’s talk about shoes. What you wear for rims is kinda a broad range of options. I’m not gonna sit back and try to say which brands are best, or what shade of neon you should pick for your modern 80’s Velcro hightops. As with the previous lessons, I’m targeting what you should pay attention to when you’re wearing a button down shirt, in a medium formal-formal occasion. Cuz I mean, I’ll wear some leather flipflops on… [Read more]

BnE Review: The Ravenous Pig

The Ravenous Pig 1234 N. Orange Ave. (between Orlando and Denning) Winter Park, FL 32789 www.theravenouspig.com The Ravinous Pig is located a few blocks off the strip of Winter Park in the Orlando area. The place was awarded Best Restaurant Overall in Orlando Home and Leisure Magazine’s Silver Spoon Awards, however, I failed to see what the big deal was. Granted, the food was not bad, but the it was not exceptional either. And the wine list was very, how should I say…unimpressive. Don’t get me wrong, the food was edible, but if I did not subscribe to the magazine I would never have thought the place would be nominated, much less win. I ordered a salad with goat cheese, beets, pistachio’s, avocado, and an herb vinaigrette. For my entree I ordered mussels in a witte beer, fennel, and orange type juice, and it came with truffle oil fries. It says a lot that my friend enjoyed the fries… [Read more]

The Importance of a Man’s Shoes for Business & Pleasure

Shoes show that you understand the concept of completeness. Any clown can buy an expensive suit and a silk tie. But a man’s ability to pick the right shoes to match his suit shows he isn’t a peasant, and knows what he’s doing. – Momo Women will look at your shoes automatically because they are wired that way – we look at the rack, they look at our shoes, it’s just a fact. Having grown used to hearing the words “oooh her shoes are cute!” from the woman, I realize that women keep their eyes south when checking out our gear. It comes from the attention they pay to their own shoes, having tons of them, always looking for them and seeing who is wearing them. It’s like being a logo designer, you do it so much that you can’t eat, drink or drive by anything that has a logo without doing a mental critique… [Read more]

Business Network Meetings are Worthless – Part 2 of 2

Once in awhile I’ll get an invite to a social mix-and-mingle type event. The goal of course is to provide a nice, friendly atmosphere to talk business with yuppies over drinks. Going into these things I automatically know that I’ll be wasting my time. A fine example of the time waste is the iPhone craze that occurred during the latter half of the 2000’s. During this iPhone craze, I had many people coming up to me saying “Hey, Greg, let’s make an iPhone app.” I knew that I was meant to be the one doing the coding since these people coming up to me weren’t coders,  and would not want to do it even if they could. So you probably think, if I’m the creator, then they’ll provide the ideas, right? So I ask “What’s your idea?” “Oh, I don’t know. Do you have any?” What the hell is that? So, I’m expected to come… [Read more]

What is your Ethical Dilemma?

What is your Ethical Dilemma?

How is it that you have no problem paying your bills on company time using company equipment, or even spending 20 minutes using the phone to place an order to your favorite catalog, but you think it’s a damn shame that the Administrative Assistant took $10.00 from petty funds to buy gas as she ran errands?  You might even support her dismissal for such brazen dishonesty. You may also rationalize that what you are doing does not directly cost your company. It isn’t? Damn skippy, you better believe it does!!! Time is money! The question of ethics for most of us is gray rather than black and white. This is due to how we individually define values and morality and the rules may differ from culture to culture and from one period of time to the other. These standards give meaning to behaviors called ethics. Ethics tells us why we should behave in a certain… [Read more]

Love Me Or Leave Me Alone – Pt. 2

You Took Too Long, Let’s Just Be Friends “The professional man has time on his side, and he is not going to deviate from his plan just because he sees a pretty face.” There are only a select few times when a man and woman can be friends even when there is attraction involved – 1. You were co-workers or classmates, 2. You are his friend’s girlfriend, wife or cool ex, 3. You are his cool ex (you broke up as an agreement not out of malice), and finally 4. You are a friend’s family member. If you aren’t in this list of 4 then you cannot be my friend, most guys will 100% co-sign on this point – blank  - period. This way there are no illusions on whether I can get in those draws sometime in the near future (which is what most guys will keep you around for) and you have no… [Read more]
