Sometimes I admire women who really know what they want in their 20’s and truly wait to have kids until they are well into their 30’s. Other times, I’m glad I’ve got the experience almost completely out of the way in my early years to enjoy the later years with my man. However, there is that one thing that I cannot get past, who am I without my daughter? While we are on the verge of taking SAT’s and ACT’s, up to our necks in college applications and tours, her need to spend all of her spare time with her friends, I am left with the question of who I am. I never got a chance to experience adult things without the baby in tow or the burden of finding a baby sitter, or worse, sitting at home when a baby sitter was not available…. [Read more]

Time and time again I run into men and women that have big dreams but lack the ability to set them in motion. To them, people who move on their ideas have a special gift; more drive, and more education. I don’t think that this is true. Many times an idea being made into a reality has to come from you breaking ground and attempting to build–even if it’s completely wrong. What I have found is that as you build upon it, the people that know how to do it correctly will help you out in correcting your approach and when you have it built incorrectly, you will have no qualms with tearing it down and trying again. The biggest part in all of this is that you put forth the effort. “A brilliant idea with no execution is worthless” Have you ever met someone… [Read more]

I once had a friend of mine (white person) ask me if it would bother me if they showed up to a party in some brown paint to complete their ensemble for a black character they loved and wanted to be for Halloween. I asked them why couldn’t they just be the character without the offensive, extra detail. That was the end of the conversation. I think now of how I would portray a character like Tony Stark the Iron Man, one of the main Marvel Super Heroes that I loved and adored as a kid. I would get my mustache right, grow a junior ‘fro and then carry around a glass of liquor while wearing a glowing arc-reactor under my shirt. No time during my imagination of myself as Stark do I picture myself in the mirror with some makeup, going white to complete… [Read more]

Ladies, how well do you know us men? Are you guilty of the base assumptions that we all want to run around unwashed, play video games and sleep with anything that lets us? Do you see us on a deeper level, one mired in the traditions of the guys that get portrayed in movies, books and other media? Well the following points are some things that you may or may not know about us. Sure every man is different in his own way, but I would be willing to bet that most (outside of #2) are guilty of the following: 1. We Like What We Like Almost daily I read articles by women that somehow feel that putting down a sad story in blog form will convert the men that continue to ignore them into changing their minds. Many men are stubborn and while you… [Read more]

Boss man got you down? Clients playing the part of Victorian slave owners? Well we know that work sucks and you would much rather be golfing but is it all bad? Work brings you money, and money buys things that can potentially make you happy, plus being employed impresses people… right? So we are stuck working—at least those of us who need to work—so why not make it tolerable? The following list is my 10 tips for relieving work-related stress. I have found that the main cause of stressing over work is our inability to detach, keep things in perspective, and not take it personally. The way to accomplish these things is to find ways to relax, put your mind on something else, and set boundaries between your home life and your job. 1. Happy Hour If you are a social butterfly then there is… [Read more]

Having a strong opinion, independence and no non-sense attitude have long been traits and qualities that have been revered and appreciated in men. When a man utilizes this attributes he is a leader, decisive and usually a considered quite a catch; what? with that kind of confidence, even a less attractive version of this man will be a vied after mate. When a woman, however, embodies these characteristics she will suffer a significantly longer sentence of single-girl status. And not even necessarily single-single – she will be able to get laid, if she so chooses but more than that (deep sigh) can be much more elusive. Verbalize what it is you want As a lady, I get it, we tend to want our partners to be so in tune with us that they ‘just know’ what we want and are intuitive about our needs so… [Read more]

The friends with benefits game can be a great one – if you find the right people to play. Mere friendship doesn’t guarantee that you will have this amazing, no strings attached, soul connecting sex and conversation and then go on with your fantasy sport draft or whatever else you have to do once the front door closes. Research and studies have found that the friends with benefits (FWB) relationship is one that can prove to be quite successful, but I would imagine that the failed attempts at FWB are a bit harder to conceptualize as well as locate. Mainly because if your FWB did not work out it is because one person in the relationship did not feel that it was simply a FWB relationship. And there we have it: hardest part of making a FWB relationship work is being able to define and hold down… [Read more]

When the book, He’s Just Not that Into You by Greg Behrendt hit bookshelves it seemed like it was a much needed dose of reality for some ladies; giving women a glimpse of how men are really seeing you and how many men are simply turned off by certain behaviors.  While also providing women with the harsh truth that when men treat you badly and you forgive him time and again, that we are enabling their shitty treatment of women. “Don’t spend your time on and give your heart to any guy who makes you wonder about anything related to his feelings for you.” – Greg Behrendt Not getting married or not being proposed to simply will not make the world stop from turning. Finding someone that makes you happy and fits into your world the way that you need them to and you for them… [Read more]
