10 Reasons Why I Hate Valentines Day

I hate Valentine’s Day, and if you aren’t female and in a relationship then chances are you hate it too. Unfortunately I must preface this article with a disclaimer that I have a “Valentine”, so while I hate to disappoint those who see me as a lonely troll in some basement being bitter – you will find that most articles lamenting Valentine’s Day are from guys who actively have to participate in it. That being said, I don’t hate the Hallmark created money-sink day for the typical reasons guys hate it. I hate it because of what we have to deal with from other people on the day, it’s a hassle, it’s annoying and it’s damn expensive! Here are 10 reasons why I could do without Valentine’s Day, and for most of you out there that are single or otherwise, I am sure you will agree: 1.) Facebook Love Spam: I see my girl weekly,… [Read more]

Elect to take the long way home

To promote health and a strong heart I would urge that everyone that is physically able to do so – take the long way whenever possible. This means parking in the far lot and briskly walking in to work, opting for stairs over an elevator ride and taking the mail to the mailroom yourself. While the norm is to temper the day job during the week and hit the treadmill on the weekend, you will find yourself more energetic and happier when you’ve incorporated more movement into your work life. As a person who stares at a computer screen 98% of the day, I find that the excuse to walk and exercise is a welcome one at any time. In the mornings I park a couple blocks away, walk briskly to work and take the stairs up to our floor. On the way I run into other white-collar slaves that have taken on this ritual… [Read more]

Why Talking Trash About Your Ex is A Bad Idea

I’ve been guilty of this several times over until recently when I made a promise to refrain from doing so in the future. The reason I came to this decision is because the act of talking bad on one’s ex is akin to whining and a gentleman does not whine, he deals and overcomes. For what it’s worth my exes haven’t been THAT bad, not enough to warrant discussion beyond how we met and why we split. To be honest we all owe our exes a degree of gratitude (unless they were cancerous to your soul). Our exes helped us grow into who we are today, like it or not this is a fact. Talking about your ex could also clue your current in on the fact that you aren’t fully over her. To discuss someone is to have them on one’s mind and it may not be the best hand to show when idle… [Read more]

Wolf: A Playboy That Hates Women

There are two types of players, one who loves women and another who hates them. Though very similar in their traits, the two are as different as coffee and tea so here at the Hall we refer to them differently. The player who loves women is a “Playboy” and the player who hates women is a “Wolf“. Wolves use women up without conscience because they are the product of a woman’s hurt. Playboys can’t get enough of women so they tend to stray easily whenever opportunity presents itself. Playboys have been mischaracterized in the media as “sex addicts” whereas most men would agree that being addicted to sex is a load of bullshit. This article is about the wolf, how he is created and why women are as much to blame for his crimes as he is. It takes a woman to truly mold a man into an animal. Normally the wolves and killers out… [Read more]

How Forced Fatherhood can Hurt Your Daughter in The End

Before you read this, I want it to be clear that this is not a typical blast on dead beat dads. In fact, I am the last woman to talk about dead beat dads. With my experience, I do understand that some men just don’t know how to be a good dad, some men just don’t want to be a dad, and some men want to be but have a crazy baby mama that won’t let them be a good dad. All I want to say is, if your circumstances do allow you to take on the task of being a dad, then please take on the ENTIRE task. Don’t do a half assed job because it will ultimately have a negative effect on your children, especially girls.  Kids are very resilient in a sense that they don’t know what they are missing when they have never had something. But little girls that get a… [Read more]

Hannibal of Carthage

Today’s entry is about the mighty elephant Hannibal, a man whose father instilled such a hate in him for the city of Rome that he would not only fight his entire life to try and destroy it, but took a draught of poison rather than be imprisoned within her halls. Hannibal absolutely loathed Rome, it was a deep, deep hate born and bred from the loss of his father, brothers and friends to their legions, and it all began from one legendary act. The act (that Hannibal reportedly loved to talk about) was when his father, the mighty Hamilcar held him aloft above a fire and made him swear to hate Rome or face the flames and oblivion. Being a young soldier within his father’s campaign, Hannibal at first fought whilst witnessing his father and older brother expand Carthage into Spain and beat back Rome like nobody’s business. He was sharp and ambitious which eventually… [Read more]

Boudica – Queen of The Iceni

“In stature she was very tall, in appearance most terrifying, in the glance of her eye most fierce, and her voice was harsh; a great mass of the tawniest hair fell to her hips; around her neck was a large golden necklace; and she wore a tunic of diverse colors over which a thick mantle was fastened with a brooch. This was her invariable attire.” – Cassius Dio’s description of Boudica, Icenian Queen. One of the most glorious female warriors in ancient history is the warrior queen Boudica – a Celtish badass who led her men into war against the Romans in 61 C.E. Under the order of the commanders of the Roman legions, her people were ravaged for conquest, slaves pillaged her home, and she was whipped. Her daughters were brutally raped and her people made into slaves for the glory of Rome. This was all a tiny offense compared to the savagery brought… [Read more]
