The day I read the Bible and lost my religion

Editor’s Note: This is probably the most controversial topic I have touched on in my writing here on The Hall. I reread it days after writing and found that it is 100% Greg Dragon in terms of being blunt, offensive and harsh. I did not and will not be changing what I have written to make it palatable because it is honest, and I feel that me being less than honest is a disservice to both you my readers and myself the bleeding heart. This is an entry into the mind of someone who is extremely bitter with religion in general and I hope you take something away from it other than a wont to argue with me. Thanks as always for allowing me to express myself, it is a freedom I don’t take for granted. – G.Dragon To be honest I never had it, like many other children I was raised into my parent’s… [Read more]

Hotties of History: Marie Antoinette

Marie Antoinette is a tragic, historical example of how malice, hatred and lies can poison the minds and hearts of people to the point of fatality. Falsely remembered as the stuck-up French queen who poked fun at her starving subjects with the words “let them eat cake!” and for being one of the causes for the French Revolution of 1789. It is sad because the real story of this woman is that of scandal, propaganda and a misunderstood beauty. Marie was beautiful even in today’s standards. She had long, golden blond hair, big blue eyes and breasts so full that she allegedly used them as a mold for making bowls within her Hameau. The busty Austrian immediately impressed king Louis XV and he happily married her off to his son who beyond his shyness and anti-Austrian tutoring figured himself a lucky man. Rumors, Foreskin and The Diamond Necklace Sadly for Louis XVI he was born… [Read more]

Hannibal of Carthage

Today’s entry is about the mighty elephant Hannibal, a man whose father instilled such a hate in him for the city of Rome that he would not only fight his entire life to try and destroy it, but took a draught of poison rather than be imprisoned within her halls. Hannibal absolutely loathed Rome, it was a deep, deep hate born and bred from the loss of his father, brothers and friends to their legions, and it all began from one legendary act. The act (that Hannibal reportedly loved to talk about) was when his father, the mighty Hamilcar held him aloft above a fire and made him swear to hate Rome or face the flames and oblivion. Being a young soldier within his father’s campaign, Hannibal at first fought whilst witnessing his father and older brother expand Carthage into Spain and beat back Rome like nobody’s business. He was sharp and ambitious which eventually… [Read more]

How to Push From Idea to Reality

Putting a plan into action is a challenge that many people balk at whenever they come up with an idea. For this reason, many beautiful ideas are lost to the wind of nothingness because the idealist either lacks the capabilities to enact them, or lacks the drive or know-how. It helps to have a course of action to follow, so I offer up my methodology of moving forward. It is a simple process that involves a bit of work but will see your thoughts through to fruition before they have a chance to lull themselves. What you shouldn’t do with a new idea: Share it with everyone you know People are haters, doubters, well-wishers and thieves, for you to find out who someone is you have to see them in the act and sometimes divulging a great idea is a good way to see it. The trouble with this is in the case of a… [Read more]

Boudica – Queen of The Iceni

“In stature she was very tall, in appearance most terrifying, in the glance of her eye most fierce, and her voice was harsh; a great mass of the tawniest hair fell to her hips; around her neck was a large golden necklace; and she wore a tunic of diverse colors over which a thick mantle was fastened with a brooch. This was her invariable attire.” – Cassius Dio’s description of Boudica, Icenian Queen. One of the most glorious female warriors in ancient history is the warrior queen Boudica – a Celtish badass who led her men into war against the Romans in 61 C.E. Under the order of the commanders of the Roman legions, her people were ravaged for conquest, slaves pillaged her home, and she was whipped. Her daughters were brutally raped and her people made into slaves for the glory of Rome. This was all a tiny offense compared to the savagery brought… [Read more]

Spike TV’s Deadliest Warrior is a Dangerous Show

Once in a while a fluff television show will become popular and if it resembles anything real it will also lead to a lot of misinformed people believing it to be actuality. Almost daily my friends talk about the match-ups on Spike Tv’s Deadliest Warrior, which is a hit show where three nerds gather around a room full of cool devices and argue over who would beat who. This would be fine if they didn’t go to the extents that they do to prove/disprove inaccurately who would win in a given match-up. For entertainment the show is brilliant, bringing together old nerdy arguments such as Ninja versus Pirate (this hasn’t really happened yet) or Apaches versus Gladiators. The danger in the show is the fluff antics that make the arguments seem legit. To the casual viewer, a Ninja fighting a Spartan and losing makes perfect sense since well the Spartans kicked so much ass in… [Read more]

The 5 Corniest Videos in Hip Hop History

Now all of us old hats can argue that Hip Hop died sometime between 1995 and 1996, while you younglings will say that the music is still going strong etc. Regardless of that old argument, we fans can agree that there are a collective of videos and songs that just make you cringe whenever you hear them. Others are just plain bad and it might have caused that person to be permanently placed on your “do not listen” list due to the wackness. Anyway, being that myself and Nia are Hip Hop heads through and through, we got together and came up with a few videos that we consider to be a black mark on Hip Hop history. Please do not get upset if these turds strike up bad memories for you, we do this in good fun… enjoy: 1. J-Lo and The Lox – Jenny From The Block As a listener and fan of… [Read more]

BnE Review: The Ravenous Pig

The Ravenous Pig 1234 N. Orange Ave. (between Orlando and Denning) Winter Park, FL 32789 www.theravenouspig.com The Ravinous Pig is located a few blocks off the strip of Winter Park in the Orlando area. The place was awarded Best Restaurant Overall in Orlando Home and Leisure Magazine’s Silver Spoon Awards, however, I failed to see what the big deal was. Granted, the food was not bad, but the it was not exceptional either. And the wine list was very, how should I say…unimpressive. Don’t get me wrong, the food was edible, but if I did not subscribe to the magazine I would never have thought the place would be nominated, much less win. I ordered a salad with goat cheese, beets, pistachio’s, avocado, and an herb vinaigrette. For my entree I ordered mussels in a witte beer, fennel, and orange type juice, and it came with truffle oil fries. It says a lot that my friend enjoyed the fries… [Read more]
