Face The Facts – We All Bow To The Machine

Question: How much time do you spend in front of a computer these days my dear denizens? I would wager that you, like myself spend about 70% of your time staring into the one-eyed monster (2-eyed for you dual screen IT nerds) all day. When you think about this please factor in smart phones, tablets and that family of pocket-PC too. Scary isn’t it? I thought about it the other day and I spend about 90% of my life in front of a computer of some sort. While I don’t feel obligated to using a computer, I do willingly find one to do the things I love throughout the day. I wake up and check my email, drive in to the day job to stare at dual monitors for 8 hrs, stare at my Blackberry when riding to lunch and then go home to stare at another screen for movies, shows, my business and video… [Read more]

What has Facebook done for you lately?

People have started to call Facebook “fake book” because of the number of so-called friends they have on there that are showcasing a false reality. While this is true in many cases, I have to ask: Who are we to police these people? And why is it that we care so much that they choose to be fakers? While I find it pathetic that someone would lie about what college they went to or their relationship status or places that they’ve traveled to, I still am not affected by it so it really means nothing to me. But what is the point of it all? I know for business owners like myself I am forced to have a profile in order to keep pages up, but for Average Joe what is the point of Facebook? I know for networking it is priceless and with the fluidity of posting and sending messages etc. It is a… [Read more]

Cluelessly Racist – The Alexandra Wallace Rant

Parents, especially you white American parents who haven’t bothered to spend 3 seconds on teaching your children racial tolerance before they become teenagers – do yourself a favor and destroy their web-cams! YouTUBE, Facebook and chain emails are all public forums in which young people stupidly post rants and embarassing shit that will affect their professional life and beyond. Consider our new entry – one Alexandra Wallace, who exhibits a list of characteristics that race bloggers have been discussing for nearly 10 years now. UCLA Student Alexandra Wallace’s Rant: Get the Flash Player to see this content. Alexandra’s Rant exhibits: The expected thought process of a privileged, blonde, attractive, young girl. Look don’t be mad at me for posting it, but the fact of the matter is, if you look like this there is a solid stigma by people of color that your privileged ass is harboring racist opinions and thinking them innocent. Squeeze a… [Read more]

5 Trolls To Avoid On Any Blog Commentary

Getting sucked into an argument with a comment troll on a blog, e-zine or forum is an embarrassing thing once you figure out that you’ve been had. As a former master troll (fresh out of rehab) and site owner it makes me sad when an obvious (at least to me) troll trap is set and some clueless commenter walks into it. Sometimes it’s not even trolling that is meant to be trolling, sometimes a commenter is just an ass who puts something out there to devalue your post or just to make themselves feel better than you. Well enough is enough, The Hall of The Black Dragon does not want the trolls to have it so easy, so we offer up some clues for you to “get a clue” on the troll game. Either don’t respond to these people (which makes them look dumb) or counter-troll for the advantage! Observe these troll standards which myself… [Read more]

Quit Sending Cell Phone Pictures of Your Junk!

This is a formal request to all male celebrities to stop sending your groupies pictures of your deal. I know that you get excited when you meet a new, sexy chick and you feel empowered in sending her a pic and having her tell you how big you are, but as with anything else you need to use the big head and not the little one. If you are going to send the nasty d-ck picture you need to make sure that it is as abstract as possible ie: nobody should be able to tell it’s you if it gets in the wrong hands. So full body shots, MySpace shots and the between the legs, bird’s eye view shot isn’t recommended. The reason I felt a need to address this is due to the amount of embittered exes that are posting pictures of naked males on the internet. One day it’s Bishop Eddie Long, the… [Read more]

Talking in Circles – The Most Worthless Way to Blog

Discussion is worthless if there is no awareness raised, no solutions offered and no steps taken afterwards. It’s for this reason why I dislike many corporate meetings and phone conferences. Oft-time someone is given a soapbox, a microphone and us (their audience) to defecate information orally that we’ve already heard before, know all too well, or have spoken about it a week before. This is the way I feel about blog articles that I come across daily, many aren’t asking questions, they aren’t offering solutions, they aren’t saying anything new… they are just… talking. This year was a good example of this in the blogosphere as people all ran the same topics week to week without any offerings. One especially tired one was of the single black woman and her quest for marriage. Some writers (myself included), offered up solutions to winning guys like myself over, most bloggers, chose to just bitch about it being… [Read more]

How the Internet inspires me

A million years ago I was a nerdy kid programming QBasic games on my Packard Bell 286 and learning more and more about bulletin board systems. I was hooked on BBS after the muscular running back of my football team introduced me to them (go figure, you think nerds are skinny and weak huh). Anyway I was on people’s boards playing text based games, chatting it up with like-minded nerds and keeping it to myself so not to draw the blank stares and confused looks that most people would give me at this BBS thing. The last one I visited was prior to college and after I logged off I went to lead a 4 year span of clubs, women, Hip Hop and scholarship. 3 years later this internet thing blew up and websites were all the rage as information became accessible at the tip of our fingers. While my buds used the library’s computer… [Read more]

Paranoia, Images and The Internet Truth

As a seasoned Web Developer and Graphic Designer, I’ve noticed that one of the most misunderstood areas have been that of copyrighting and privatizing images. Photographers put ugly, ineffective watermarks over their images, web designers use JavaScript to disable right clicking and then there’s the attempt at using Adobe Flash as protection. The fact of the matter is that none of these methods will protect your images from a knowledgeable person that wants them. That’s right none, actually it becomes a challenge worth taking on to steal an image from someone whose ignorance of the internet shows by their vague attempt at protecting it. Listen models, photographers and artists, if you are too broke cheap to get your images legally copyrighted then don’t put them on the internet at all or keep them at a really tiny size ie: no larger than 240 pixels wide. To see people tagging images for SEO and then using… [Read more]
