Well the other day I went by my ladies house to help her move a bed and something struck me upon seeing her bedroom… she had placed a baseball bat by the head of the bed for protection. Being the warrior that I am (in my own mind) I begun laughing hysterically as she and her daughter gathered around to see what was apparently so funny. When I had her attention I had her rpeat her height and weight to me (5’3” and a hundred and small change pounds) and I repeated mine (6 foot 2 inches and over 250 lbs of muscle and fat). My point to them was that my linebacker dimensions + adrenaline would ignore any amount of force that a bat swung by a woman of her stature could bring. Every so often Hollywood will squat down, take a huge dump and put it on screen as an American martial arts movie. Normally these feature a good looking white or black dude whooping ass, banging Asian chicks and saying cute one-liners. Although onscreen everyone fears the man, the audience as a whole is so sobered to this cliche that we almost laugh at him. Now we all know life imitates art (or vice versa) so the “coolness” of being a badass fantasy fighter has spawned a few McDojos (as I like to call them, since their schools are probably as false as they are) who aim to impress the ignorant on their skills. There are certain guys that get tried on a daily basis and there are other guys who never get tried for whatever reason. It’s not always about looks because some of the biggest guys still get tried and get their asses beat and some of the smallest guys are avoided by literally everyone. Why is this? Us martial artists like to think of it as an aura that surrounds an individual, lets think of it as colors like a green aura means “try me” and a red aura means “step the hell back”. Many of us would love to have a red aura but we have somewhat of a greenish-yellow tint as in we aren’t tried much but there are times when we get checked. Actor David Carradine was found dead today hanging naked in his closet at a Bangkok hotel room. Officer Teerapop Luanseng (the investigating officer) said Carradine was staying at the luxury Swissotel Nai Lert Park Hotel. The cause of death is currently under investigation being that the actor was currently fiming a new movie called Stretch. Carradine was anounced absent when he missed a dinner with the film crew on wednesday, June 3rd. His body was discovered by a hotel maid and the police was alerted. Read more on this at CNN.com.
