Many of you have talents, both evident and hidden within you, but you fear taking action to present them to the world. You look at the people who act, and you say “I wish I could do that”, or “One day I will do that”, but time has never been about uplifting the doubtful. People don’t help, especially if they know that they can sway you towards the negative, and many of us aren’t born with enough of that fire to push past everything and strive to ascend. This does not mean that you should accept that being stagnant is your fate. I will not sit here and pretend to know the answer for motivation, and enabling action, but I can tell you that failure is not as devastating as you think it is. Failure is a part of the game, and while success is what… [Read more]

How can you tell a disciplined person at first glance? Is it the way they carry themselves? The way they walk, talk, work? It is an interesting question being that we assume that we can get this insight from conducting job interviews, playing golf or cards with someone, or just inviting them to lunch for some small talk. There are many hints into a person’s discipline, but they can be hard to differentiate from quirks, compulsive motives, or habit. We can look at a bodybuilder and assume that the hard work and dedication he/she put into gaining a muscular body is a sign of a person that can make a goal and stay the course to attain it. Similarly we can look at a person that is an “other” in their career path, assume that they had to be twice as good to get there… [Read more]

As a thirty something dater – or I guess, former dater – I have had countless quandaries on this question “finding mister right”. That question generally arises around date three or four when I begin to wonder should I only be dating this one person or can I keep dating others, is this relationship going to be something serious? This is almost an impossible question to ask that early on in the dating game. The glow after a first kiss, especially one that you may have been anticipating for some time should not be dampened by the concerns of what might be coming next. It is a mood killer for you and for the person you’re kissing, especially if you accidentally blurt out something ridiculous like, “I wanna have babies!” Can you believe I was ever kissed a second time after that?! Sometimes our worry… [Read more]

Games and gamers have always been unfairly targeted for violence, witchcraft and whatever else stirs the pot in conservative conversation. After all we’re just a bunch of fat, jobless losers right? We learn to kill, rape and jack vehicles from video games right? Of course not, but we have learnt a few tricks from games even when we don’t acknowledge it. Have you ever sat back and thought about what practical skills video games have taught you? Well we have and made a list of the things that we owe to our beloved past-time. Perseverance  For all the dying, continuing and researching how to get better, I have to say that gaming teaches perseverance like nothing else. We clown those among us who give up and run for a cheat code but applaud a god that has memorized the bullet patterns in Radiant Silvergun in order to maneuver it flawlessly and embarrass the game. We… [Read more]

A fit belly is a pointer towards good health; additionally it gives a boost to the physical appearance of a person. It is a recognized fact that excessive fat can lead to many harmful diseases. Besides, it can lead to lowered self esteem as people become more conscious of their uncouth form. Even though the above is true for man or woman, belly fat is a bigger concern for women because fat accumulation has been linked with menopause; researchers believe that more fat can get deposited owing to the hormonal changes that happen, particularly in middle age. Why is a fit belly an indication of a woman’s heart health? A fit belly means no unnecessary fat in the waist line which translates into a healthy heart.  Excessive quantities of Visceral fat or the fat stored in between abdominal organs like liver, pancreas, gall bladder, intestines… [Read more]

Misty Copeland is beauty and grace combined into one awesome package of ballerina. She is one of the first African American female soloists for the American Ballet Theatre and is currently touring with Prince “The Artist” in concert. If you don’t know about Misty, you have to consider the amount of drive and perseverance it takes to be a “raisin in a bowl of milk” in any venture. A world famous black NASCAR driver would not be “average”, nor would a standout black hockey player (if you’re going to invade, you have to be a spectacular invader). So to say that she was a gifted ballet prodigy that started dancing late should not shock you at all. she is very serious about her craft. Misty has won numerous awards and has a flourishing career that most of us could only wish we had. and for… [Read more]
