For the longest time we have seen Hollywood showcase “the strong silent type” as the epitome of manliness. Turns out that they were not too far off the mark. Recent studies have shown that quiet men are regarded as more manly and attractive to the opposite sex and both men and women prefer mates whose voices sound familiar in some way (source). I want to stay a bit on the deep voice thing though since it pretty much debunks the whole ideology that women are no longer liking macho men. “Researchers at McMaster University have found that women were more attracted to men with masculine voices, at least for short-term relationships.” – source The downside to this of course is that the same women who are attracted to the James Earl Jones and Keith David types assume that eventually they would cheat. Women in these… [Read more]

Angelina Jolie, that beautiful actress that women love to hate has a new movie coming out where she plays Maleficent the dark but beautiful witch from the story Snow White. You know Mal was one of the original haters. She looked banging, but she wanted to make sure that nobody else came close. Say it with me: “mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?” Maleficent’s story is one of the most popular stories as she, the quintessential “black witch” was the opposite of the fair Snow White. One thing that I’ve noticed beyond Maleficent is that witches are normally played by drop-dead gorgeous women. Prove me wrong.., They are either old, wrinkled and terrible, or breathtakingly gorgeous… no middle ground. Think of any witch in our modern cinema that was truly an ugly crone. You will be hard-pressed to find… [Read more]

Many times in the past I have asked married people to stay in their lane when it comes to singles, their dating, and their love lives. The reason for this is the incessant pandering, needling, and urging that married friends tend to do in order to beg their single friends to join the club. Can’t stand to be miserable alone I guess (I kid), but I can count on my hand the number of married couples I know that don’t do this.  Recently a buddy of mine met a lady that he really liked and since she was posting so many photos of them having a good time together they agreed that flipping dat ‘ol Facebook switch would not be a big deal. A relationship status to match their reality and then all of the guessing by admirers, nosy folks, and well-to-dos would go away…. [Read more]

Welcome to the best top (insert number) list of hot women for 2012 on the internet. Our list rocks because, well, we like a lot of women from all different ranges of race, profession, height, you name it. So don’t think this is your standard rundown of Victoria Secrets Models and women who appear on Vanity Fair. No, this list came from THE BOYS, a collective of men who truly represent men and not some writer with a blonde fetish doling out his celeb crushes. The criteria we based our choices on was popularity, buzz, and the attitude men have towards these women’s looks, interviews, and/or movies and shows that they starred in. This top 15 isn’t here to force a certain hawte down your throat so if your favorite lady didn’t make it don’t take offense. This is the Hall of The Black Dragon’s list of… [Read more]

average guy

Why do we as a society act as if mediocrity is such a shameful thing? Most people are average—by a huge margin—yet we pretend as if everyone has the potential to become “great”. Children are pushed to maximize their efforts in the pursuit of material bliss only to grow into miserable adults when life comes back mundane.   We Can’t All Be At The Top The irony in our average-shaming society is that the ones who ascend need the average people in order to maintain position. People who become rich use the money of the average populace to amass wealth. I have always said that the quickest way to wealth Is to find the best way to exploit the ignorant and it is very true of a lot of successful businesses. Athletes, their coaches, and the team’s owners and general managers make ridiculous salaries because… [Read more]

lolo on the track

Today we are going to talk about the public’s reaction to religious dogma with athletes Lolo Jones and Tim Tebow as the main focus. Religion is a funny topic in today’s society as it seems to grow more and more unpopular as the years fly by. In the past when you had someone going on and on about their piety, it was praised (no pun intended) as a way that we should be living our lives. Now we have a stronger push against religious sects, often time revealing the dark, ugly side of them which is not limited to violent homophobia, intolerance, slavery, manipulation, and exploitation. Christians of today are much more quiet and reserved than the ones I had to tolerate growing up (bear with me). To speak your mind against certain things that they believed in or to argue logic against their faith… [Read more]

Part One: It’s Deeper Than The Women Recently I read a wonderful post by Peter Lloyd on the topic of male enhancement surgery and the huge surge of men rushing out to get it. The article touched on the self-image issues that many men have, especially in the penis size department and the drastic steps we take to get past it. Mr. Lloyd’s points were solid, especially concerning the impact size has in the love life and personal life of men worldwide. But the one portion of his article that I couldn’t agree on was the assertion that it is the fault of women that we are so penis-conscious. I move that it is our own fault gentlemen, and it is something that we put on each other from the time that we are innocent children playing in the bathtub to adults comparing ourselves to… [Read more]

Editor’s Note: One of my favorite blogs to read outside of The Hall (yes the Dragon does fly off to different lands periodically is Revolutionary Paidera. The author and denizen of The Hall: Antonio Maurice Daniels, always writes gems that inspire deep thought and necessary reflection into our build-up. Recently he delivered an entry called “Drop out of popularity contests” which should be read by anyone who finds him/herself struggling to be relevant, cool, or impressive to outsiders. It’s all about DOING YOU and man if it doesn’t echo everything I believe in the way we should live our lives. Here’s a snippet and link to the rest… Too many people are far too focused on how they can get everyone to like them.  You must understand that everyone will not like you.  Some people will not like you without any rationale—don’t try to force… [Read more]
