Attractive couple working out together

Lets face it folks, when you find someone to love, you tend to get a lot of good out of it but there are some bad things that snake their way into it. One of the bad things is fat, yup, fat … it sneaks in, it makes you bigger, and before you know it you’re on the scale like “WHAT IN THE WORLD!” So what makes relationships so fattening? I’ll tell you what it is, most of us were working out to get with someone in the first place. Now that the goal is attained, we see it as a chore, and we stop paying attention to ourselves. What most experts suggest we do about this is to use ours partner as springboards to promote proper nutrition and exercise. Do things together and it doesn’t become a compromise, if he/she (the one we love) is lazy then… [Read more]

Don’t you hate it when your body is sore from months of work but you still look like you slam cookies daily? This is one of the main reasons so many of us quit and use genetics as an excuse not to exercise. One of the biggest secrets to getting bigger and stronger is to continuously challenge oneself and be patient with the results! Trying to get a “beach body” or whatever by Summer when you’ve only started working out in March is a lie that is sold to you by workout gurus that are trying to pimp a machine or a Blu-ray box set. “I don’t know anyone that is a beast off of any workout Blu-ray” When you decide to get fit, it should be a life decision. What I mean by this is that it needs to be a commitment that you… [Read more]

In January, many of you will be entering into a gym for the first time to try your hand at a new fitness lifestyle. What you may or may not know about the gym is that it has some unwritten rules that can lead to very frustrated (and muscular) members if you happen to violate them. The following list are a number of things to keep in mind when you join up and become a member. Glance at the booty don’t stare at it One of the chief complaints by women that aren’t dedicated gym-goers (since seasoned lifters are well past this) is that they don’t like men looking at them. Many of these women feel fat, and because they are sweaty, void of makeup, and new, they sometimes feel that your staring is due to them doing awkward workouts or you being a horn… [Read more]

Winter is here and it’s cold outside but for months you have ravaged your bodily temple with sugars, fatty things, and all of the crap that you’ve convinced yourself that you “deserve”. Now is the time to channel your inner Rocky Balboa and get into the gym. Doing this will prep your body for the new year when everybody (and their mother) will be grabbing memberships and posting updates on their timeline. Starting now has the benefit of revving up your engine so that you are in full blast come January, and it will influence you to stay away from the terrible Christmas goodies like cakes, candies and of course eggnog. Along with working out you should go into the new year with a more positive attitude towards working out. You are not going to lift weights and run because you have to, you are… [Read more]

A workout relationship can have many forms, sometimes it is beneficial to both parties and other times it is one person hanging on for dear life. Many times with working out I compare the partnership to a boat and an anchor when docked. The anchor keeps the boat in place, preventing it from drifting out to sea and living as an example of fortitude, while the boat is there for support. For the anchor, the boat can be an important fixture that tests it’s resilience during stormy times and through the passage of time. To an outsider the two need one another but in terms of the people working out, it isn’t always so… The Immortal Anchor and The Reluctant Boat An anchor is a driven person that lives and breathes the workout. On days when they are sick, unmotivated, or lonely, they will still… [Read more]

When I went to the theater to see Man of Steel I noticed a lot of big guys in Superman shirts. Well that’s an understatement – damn near every big man was wearing a Superman shirt and you better believe that they bought them one size too small. It’s funny how Superman is somewhat of a bodybuilding icon when the character represents an alien who is genetically blessed. Superman doesn’t have to spend a quarter of his life in the gym and he doesn’t go through days where injuries affect his workout regimen or a breakdown in willpower causes him to slam a number 3 at McDonalds. But Superman is still #oneofus isn’t he? The guy wears a suit during the day so that he can blend in with the working beta male populace but when it’s time for action he rips it off to… [Read more]

I’ve come to realize that after we turn 30 there becomes 2 distinct paths that we can take when it comes to fitness. The gravity of life and the world seeks to pull us down, bend our backs and extremities to make us old, slow, and helpless – this is of course if you let it. While some health factors and situations that affect random members of the human race may cause this to be inevitable, the rest of us are able to fight it and maintain a great quality of life well into our 70’s (Studies have shown this to be true). This is why I call it the fork in the road; life rewards those who break laziness in lieu of fighting for a better quality of life and even though luck plays a factor into this when it comes to finances, when… [Read more]

With the new year firmly in place I see a ton of people on Facebook making bets and resolutions to drop X lbs by Y date. It’s admirable to take on a fitness goal but if you have done something like this recently I must warn you… Fitness and losing weight as an adult is neither quick or long lasting like you assume it is. You don’t lose weight and keep it off without maintenance and if you have not developed the discipline to change your eating habits, workout habits, and ability to resist urges by the time you lose those X lbs guess what will happen? It will come back on you faster than a rubber band that has been stretched. When selecting a goal for fitness it is better to look at that end date that you announce as the first in many… [Read more]
